Ferries to Arran
You can sail to Arran with Caledonian MacBrayne into the port of Brodick from Ardrossan or to Lochranza. Ardrossan is only a short drive from both Glasgow International and Prestwick Airports.

By car
For the main ferry route from Ardrossan Harbour it is essential to reserve a place for your car, especially during the high season and on major holidays. This can be done at www.calmac.co.uk , the ferry operator’s website.

Foot passengers
Foot passengers can purchase their tickets at the pier terminal building without pre-booking.

Directions to Grianan
To reach Kildonan, you turn left on exiting the harbour in Brodick. You follow the main road through Lamlash and Whiting Bay for about 18 kilometres. You turn left off the main road at the small sign for Kildonan on the right hand side of the road. At the turn-off there is a small red and green house facing you.
This road takes you down to the shore. As you drive through the village you will see a development of seven white detached houses on your right immediately before a large red-brick colonial style house. Look for the sign GRIANAN towards the far end.

Airport transfer
Regular train services are available from both airports. From Glasgow International Airport there is a shuttle bus to Paisley Gilmour Street train station.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport has its own rail station with services via Kilwinning to Ardrossan Harbour.

Alternatively there are taxis available at the airports or you can pre-book which often results in cheaper fares, e.g.:

Public transport
By Train
The UK has an excellent railway network including both an east coast and west coast main line rail service running from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow. There is a direct train service from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour. For more info contact scotrail.co.uk

Buses on Arran
The island has regular bus services and there is a bus stop close to GRIANAN.
